Again: What’s In A Name?

I worked in branding during my career, so the ‘Darky’ example was certainly not new to me. Whether it’s the ‘Sambo’ restaurants or the ‘Red Skins’ baseball team, a society’s true attitude towards the members of its minorities is not only reflected in the names some people consider appropriate for things like products, sports teams, etc. It’s also apparent by the way society at large either accepts or reject these names.

In a paraphrase of the old Virginia Slims ad: We’ve (still) got a long way to go, Baby!
